Greetings members of the faithful!
After releasing our latest album "lost in tokyo" which contains 21 tracks (our biggest effort to date), we have decided to take a breather and recharge our creative batteries. While we are creating songs and producing we tend to take sonic breaks which means not listening to work by other artists. Here lately we've become more social on platforms like Bluesky and we've decided to invest some time in the Electronica community. We've had a handful of artists follow us and we always make a point of listening to their tracks and giving honest feedback.
Promoting our music has been a slow moving train so to speak. We believe in promoting our sound through organic means such as word of mouth on social media and using platforms like Bandcamp and Bluesky. Maybe we are missing out but we do not use anything by Meta or X. We also refuse to pay a service to promote our music. We are a small fish in a huge sea of music and we are OK with that fact.
We love radio both terrestrial and internet based. We have invested a lot of time in contacting stations across the country pitching our releases and sending out CDs from our first two albums. Only one has shown interest which is WNCW, although they have more or less forgotten about us. We've tried to build a relationship with them which is hard because they are a flagship Bluegrass station. We love us some Bluegrass but that is not the kind of music we produce. While they were playing us on their Eclectic Electric show, we were getting a few Shazam hits here and there which was very encouraging.
Tunecore is our distributor and for what we pay per year, it's been worth the money. Although we are on all of the major streaming platforms, this side of the music business has not served us well and frankly has been a disappointment to say the least. Soundcloud is about the same and we use them to try to drive traffic to Bandcamp. We've tried using the yum code strategy but that has just resulted in a handful of "code" collectors following us both on Bluesky and of course Bandcamp.
One thing that has worked for us has been internet radio. Both Radio Wigwam and Amazing Radio have given us a lot of attention. They are services that require a yearly fee if you want to upload multiple tracks but the cost is minimal. Both are based in the UK with Radio Wigwam actually broadcasting over the air in Cardiff which is in Wales. Amazing Radio has streaming genres and also a radio component both in the UK and here in the states. We've had many of our songs added to their rotations and picked up by their DJ's for inclusion in their shows. Radio Wigwam has had us on both their Indie Bandwagon and Indie Bandwagon extra shows which has been very exciting. Recently their SYNTHscape show which is hosted by Jeff Burson featured "thick as thieves".
Now for the exciting news! Radio Wigwam has invited us to host a "take over" show which is a strange coincidence as we just recently decided to start producing a weekly radio show to showcase our work and that of other electronic artists. We had considered live radio streaming but it is cost prohibitive and a huge investment in time. A one-hour weekly show fits perfectly into our schedule and launching this concept on Radio Wigwam is very exciting and appealing.
Stay tuned for more details on the saints in unison radio hour!
